We only use organic cotton and linen from the Peloponnese, Greece and 100% Greek silk, from Soufli, Greece. Using sustainable fibres is key in any environmentally conscious process. Organic fabrics and yarns are made from materials that come from natural sources that are grown organically, without pesticides. Organic fabrics are biodegradable, meaning they can be broken down and reused in the natural world.
Organic
All of our items are made from handcrafted textiles made with care, and you can visit us in our studio to see all the stages of production! All of our items are made from organic fabrics (some hand-woven by Christiana), that have been dyed by Christiana or Matilda in the natural dyeing kitchen of our studio. After the plant dyeing, Violetta takes the fabric and cuts and sews it to create clothing, homeware or accessories.
Handmade
We only use low environmental impact techniques. All yarn has been naturally dyed, all fabric has been naturally dyed. We also use batik, shibori, embroidery and bundle dyeing techniques to create patterns on our fabrics.
Ethical
With each item you purchase you get a booklet describing what your item was made from, where the fabric or yarn is from, how it was made, what it was dyed with, who did the natural dyeing, who did the sewing and how you should take care of it.
Honest
“Reducing the consumption and waste of natural resources by increasing the resilience of relationships established between consumers and products” (Chapman) we want our customers to see these items as heirlooms, something to protect, keep and pass on from generation to generation. That is also why we do a lot of commissions, creating in collaboration with our clients.
