Collaboration with the Benaki Museum Shop for the anniversary of 1821

1821-2021

On the 25th of March 2021, we celebrated 200 years since the beginning of the Greek Revolution. After four centuries of Ottoman slavery, on the 25th of March 1821, Greece was free.

I feel proud to come from a corner of Mani, Greece, where the first flag was raised with the slogan "victory or death".

I am so lucky to have been given the opportunity by the Benaki Museum to contribute to the celebration with my participation and the creation of a collection of pillows inspired by the anniversary.

All pillows have been batiked with traditional Greek patterns, inspired by the "1821-2021 Before and After" Benaki Museum Exhibition. The pillows have been naturally dyed with natural indigo. The front of the pillows are made out of silk, whereas the back of the pillows are made out of cotton/linen fabric.
